Beautiful Day in The Park

We can’t thank everyone who came out to our very first fundraising event enough. We had such beautiful weather and such wonderful people! Not to mention some amazing photos… thank you so much to both Redlite Photos and The Color Crew for sharing your images with us. Make sure to go like their facebook pages (here and here) and check out some of their other work!

Of course also huge thanks goes out to a group of our favorite fans, the whole Krampuslauf family. From helping us get the park to sending kids around on stilts to busk in the dark, we really couldn’t do it without you. We can’t wait for Krampus on the 12th!!! Oh! And if you didn’t pick up a shirt and you’ve been regretting it ever since (I know I would be!) you can get one from our ‘shop’. It isn’t a very fancy set-up, and if you’d like more than one you’ll have to message us so we can combine shopping, but check it out!

Summer season has truly begun.

And let the madness begin! We’ve got quite the summer coming up, and what way to kick it off than a week full of events? Come catch some of the ladies from Lux Arati at two fun (and free!) upcoming gigs:

    • Wednesday, June 4th: Summer Solar Festival from 7-10:30pm @ the Rotunda 4014 Walnut Street, West Philly, PA 19104 www.therotunda.org! This ongoing seasonal event series features a variety of dance/movement/theater mediums, live electronic/acoustic music, vocalists & poetry/spoken-word presentations, circus/fire/flow arts performances, community art creations, live painting & VJ projections… Plus an Open Mic/Stage & Jam Sessions!
    • First Friday Grand Opening at Engagement Studios– Please join us for a First Friday event introducing Philadelphia’s newest and most exciting creative startup, featuring live entertainment, drinks, some of Philadelphia’s most popular food trucks and Philadelphia’s own DJ Adub. Planned together with our neighbor, the Painted Bride Art Center, the event will also debut the all-new InLiquid@ENGMT, an art gallery powered by InLiquid, Philadelphia’s premier community of artists. The first installation at Engagement Studios will be previewing the ever-popular InLiquid event, Art for the Cash Poor. More about us at http://www.engmt.com.

Meanwhile we’re hard at work for the piece we’ll be debuting at PEX Summer Fest as part of the Russian Roulette Variety Show. Can’t wait to share it with everyone!

Fall/Winter Highlights

Snowing you say? Won’t stop the ladies of Lux Arati! Here’s a short recap of some of the fun we had Fall/Winter 2013/14. Video and Photography contributors credited and hyperlinked below. Please check them out! Hire them if you’re looking for good people! We ❤ everyone who helps us gather evidence that this crazy group of ladies exist.

Some Fiery Fun

Last weekend we had some time to play around with a collaboration initiated by Lauren Raske, a fellow Philly fire spinner. We were also joined by Lauren’s frequent performance partner, Liana Cameris. We grabbed some footage with a few iPhones and a gopro, check out the video below.

The song used is by the ever talented Gina Ferrera, remixed by Michael NightTime, and can be downloaded here.

Most Hardcore Show of the Year

Brrrr!!! Krampuslauf Philadelphia this year was smack in the middle of an icy freezing cold snowstorm, but WE PERFORMED ANYWAY, as our official “Most Hardcore” performance of the year. Lux Arati has had our fair share of unfortunate weather during many of our performances — but nothing was quite as intense as this one. Special thanks to Terry Fields for joining us on stage, Amber and Janet for having us and the entire crowd of Krampuslauf Philadelphians that stuck around to watch us do our thing. We love you! Happy Holidays and Burn Bright!

Some great coverage from PHL17 here (taken by Ryan Wismer) and fun photos of the event up on Flickr here. A few borrowed photos from the Krampuslauf Facebook page below.
