Oh what fun! We were asked to put on a show for the annual Krampus festival in Northern Liberties. I’d heard about the event on NPR last year, so was pretty excited. We couldn’t put on a full Lux Arati show due to a whole bunch of schedule conflicts, but put on a bit of a throw-together display with the help of wonderful Brad.
The kids were great and the costumes were amazing. There is a flickr photo pool with some great shots. One of my favorites is this one. That little kid in the bottom right was adorable. Jexi had just done some hooping, and her hoop was lying on the ground next to the stage. I saw the whole thought process as the kid stared at the hoop, inching forward towards it. “Magic came from that… I want to understand how it works!” As the kid leaned down to touch the torch (long cooled, it would have been fine) Jexi pulled the hoop away. Rather than being mad, the kid just looked up slightly disappointed, sad that the chance to touch the magic hoop was taken away. The whole thing was rather adorable.
After performing in front of the boathouse at Glow in the Park (some good photos of the event are here) we decided to walk over to the pavilion to do a little photo shoot with the lovely Lindsey Tweed. How rare, we were all in the same costume at the end of the night! A beautiful night, and a wonderful location, it was an opportunity not to be missed. She got some great shots. We even bullied our steadfast safties to jump in on the shoot. 🙂 Thanks Lindsey!! (Clickable photos after the jump)
A few of the ladies you know and love from Lux Arati (as well as some new members that we can’t wait to introduce to you!) entertained the crowd at the 7th annual PEX Halloween party, hosted at the Battleship NJ. The weather was beautiful, and it seemed like a fun time was had by all. I’d highly recommend you click on the picture over the the left… Xtiina is doing a great job representing the Luxies! One day we’ll all get to wear the costumes we made for the fated PEX Summer Fest… one day….
Wow, what a fun crowd. Glow in the Park was a super fun night. The performance space was beautiful, the weather lovely and the crowd awesome. FDR Park is such a gem hidden down by the highways in South Philly. We performed in front of the boathouse, with the Swedish American Museum lit up behind us. Later in the evening we walked down to the pavilion and took some photos with Lindsey, a friend of Lux Arati. I’m sure there were tons of photos snapped during the performance, but so far I haven’t been able to track any down. There was also a camera guy from CBS3, but I don’t know if they did a story, I haven’t been able to find anything about that, either. If anyone does come across it, please let us know!
This was the first time they’ve held this event in FDR, and I hope they have it next year, we’d love to come back and dazzle the crowd again!

Well, the night started out pretty rainy but by the time we were set to perform, the rain had stopped and the crowd was ready. I always love performing at places where we get to take people by surprise… the PEX folks rented out the North Shore Beach Club for the Magic Garden party, but since it was last minute they were sharing the space with a birthday party from earlier in the night. Must have been a fun birthday for them!
Check out our fan finale below. The full set (thanks to Lauren’s awesome friend for recording it) can be seen here.
It’s been confirmed! Sorry about the last minute notice… but we’ll be performing at the PEX Magic Garden Party at the North Shore Swim Club this coming Saturday night! We’re set to go on around 11 PM. Tickets are available here…. Facebook page for the event is here. It is sure to be a magical evening, come on out and join us!
